Eric Perez

Detective Eric Perez was born in Orange County, New York where he attended Middletown High School. After graduating from high school he attended SUNY Orange and graduated with an AAS Degree in Criminal Justice. In 2003 he moved with his wife and young child to Florida to pursue his dream of becoming a Police Officer. In 2003 Detective Perez entered the law enforcement field, working for the Broward Sheriff’s Office as a Detention Deputy. Detective Perez joined the Fort Lauderdale Police Department in 2005 where he has been assigned to several specialized units and assignments including The Bike Platoon, Crisis Intervention Team, Field Training Officer, Special Response Team, Firearms Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Field Force Instructor, EVOC Instructor, Simunitions Instructor, Community Relations Response Team, Neighborhood Action Team, a Property Crimes Detective and most recently, the position of, Full Time Recruiting Detective. When not in uniform, Detective Perez enjoys watching movies, spending time with his family and teaching jiu-jitsu. He is also a High School Wrestling Coach.

Benard Beck-O'Steen

Detective Benard Beck-O’Steen was born in Detroit, Michigan where he attended Detroit Redford High School. Following his graduation in 1995, he attended several universities, including the University Michigan and the University of Alabama-Huntsville, before returning home to enter the private sector as a contract security manager. It was during this time that he began to work heavily with the Detroit Police Department, which rekindled his desire to serve his community. In September of 2000, he joined the Detroit Police Department where he worked in the Housing Support Division, Civil Rights Integrity Bureau, Public Information Office, the Northwestern District, Eastern District and Chief’s Staff (both as a supervisor), Internal Affairs and the Executive Protection Unit. In 2013, he joined the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and in February of 2018 was assigned to the Recruiting Unit. In his leisure time, Detective Beck-O’Steen enjoys golf, basketball, bowling, movies and traveling.
