Dodson, Michael


Responsibilities: Captain Michael Dodson is currently Executive Officer to the Chief of Police. His primary responsibilities include coordinating the agency-wide accomplishment of the department's mission and strategic initiatives. Additionally, he oversees the department's Media Relations Unit, Grants Unit and Staff Inspections/Accreditation Unit. He also specializes in cultivating active partnerships with the community in order to implement dynamic, creative and comprehensive solutions to neighborhood concerns.

History: During his tenure with FLPD, he has served as an officer in the Operations Bureau with the Patrol Division, Special Problems Unit, Community Policing Division and Motor Unit. After being promoted to Sergeant, he served as a shift supervisor in District 3 and was transferred to the Office of Internal Affairs. After being promoted to Lieutenant, Michael served as the midnight Shift Commander in District 2. Following his promotion to Captain, he was assigned to District 3.

Prior to joining the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, Michael was a Supervising Criminal Investigator and Polygraph Examiner for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
