Vacation Tips
When you are going on vacation or out of town for any reason
- Stop deliveries of mail and newspapers or ask a friend to pick them up every day while you are gone.
- Arrange to have your lawn mowed.
- Leave information with a trusted friend or neighbor as to your location and how to contact you.
Ask this trusted person to keep a watch over your property.
- Have a neighbor use your garbage can while you are away.
- Give your house a lived-in appearance. Put automatic timers on several lights and a radio and or television. Set these timers so that the lights and appliances will turn on and off at random times.
- Leave drapes in a normal position to help maintain that lived-in appearance.
- DO NOT leave lights on 24 hours a day.
- Turn the bell on the telephone down low.
- Have a neighbor park in your driveway or the front of your house.
