ATTEMPTED ROBBERY SUSPECT VIDEO

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is continuing to investigate the attempted robbery of the First State Bank that occurred on Monday, May 6, 2002, in which three males rushed an armed security guard shortly after 7:45 a.m. as he walked a teller from the main bank to the drive-thru building. The guard was able to secure the teller and the money inside the locked drive-thru as he fought the males who were attempting to get the keys to the door as well as the guard’s gun.
During the investigation by patrol officer’s, contact was made with the manager of the Stop-n-Save store located across the street from the bank. He advised that he had seen the vehicle and the three males in the parking lot of his business and that he found it suspicious and worried that he was going to be the victim of a robbery.
While the vehicle and suspects were in the lot, one of the suspects entered the store to purchase a drink. That suspect was caught on the store's videotape and has been positively identified as one of the three suspects who attempted to rob the bank a few moments later.
There was no loss from the bank and no injuries reported.
The suspect are described as black males, 5’8”-5’10”, early 20’s medium build, one of the three was very light skinned.
The vehicle is described as a tan, older model 4 door.

BANK ROBBERY

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is asking for your help in identifying the suspect in a bank robbery today, May 16, 2002 at approximately 11:25 am. The robbery occurred at the Bank Atlantic, 1300 Southeast 17th Street.
The suspect approached the teller, displayed a handgun in his waistband and demanded money. The teller complied and the suspect fled with a plastic bag full of cash. The amount is as yet unknown. The suspect ran from the bank in a Westerly direction. The suspect is described as a light complected black male 18-22 years of age, 6’1’ 150 pounds and was wearing a New York Yankee’s ball cap, dark blue jersey type shirt and dark blue trousers. He was clean-shaven but with a very light line of beard. A videotape of the suspect is available to be picked up by the media.
