HOMICIDE
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred at approximately 12:30 this morning near the intersection of NW 9 Ave. and NW 2 Street.
The victim, Wayne Delisle, 04-02-58, was talking to a friend and as the conversation ended the friend and the victim went separate directions. Shortly afterwards the friend heard several gun shots and observed a red compact pick-up truck leaving the area and Delisle with several gun shot wounds. Delisle was pronounced dead at the scene.
There is no suspect description and no motive for the shooting at this time.

HAITIAN TOWN HALL MEETING

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL - The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is holding its next Haitian Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, March 13, 2001, 6:30pm-8:30pm, at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School located at 800 N.W. 13th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale. Topics of discussion will include Parental Rights, Policing in the Haitian Community, the Community Relations Specialist, City Career Opportunities and City Services.
Community members are encouraged to attend to meet Police Department representatives, City personnel and other community members. These meetings offer attendees a great opportunity to voice issues and concerns while forming a stronger community and partnership with the Police Department. In addition, valuable information on City services and employment opportunities will be presented.
The highlight of the meeting will be the introduction of Junia Jeantilus, the newly hired Police Department Community Relations Specialist. Her responsibilities include increasing outreach efforts, working closely with recruitment personnel to hire Creole speaking officers and enhancing relations between Creole-speaking residents and neighborhood police officers.

ROBBERY VIDEO/PICTURES

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is releasing a video of an armed robbery that occurred on January 28, 2001, at approximately 3:00 a.m. in a parking garage located at 335 East Las Olas Blvd. In the video the victim is badly beaten and robbed by three black male suspects, one of which was armed with a hang gun.
The following morning at approximately 8:40 the victim’s ATM Card is used at the Bank Atlantic, 1771 NW 40 Ave. in Lauderhill. The ATM camera was able to capture still frame photos of the suspect using the card and even attempting to wipe the machine of his fingerprints. The suspect seen in the ATM photos is a white male, dark hair, mustache in his late 20’s.
A copy of the video and the still photo are available to be picked up in the lobby of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

WANTED PERSON

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is attempting to locate Enrique Miranda, 07-14-49. Miranda is wanted on charges of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Stalking, Aggravated Assault, and tampering with a witness.
Enrique Miranda On Friday, March 5, 2001, Enrique Miranda, 07-14-49 attacked and stabbed his ex-wife in the arm and chest; the victim suffered serious wounds but is expected to survive. Miranda had been stalking and threatening his ex-wife since February of 2001, and was wanted on charges of Aggravated Stalking. Miranda kept threatening the victim with violence unless the charges were dropped. Efforts to find Miranda have been unsuccessful.
Mirada is described as a black male, 5’7”, 135 pounds, gray hair, with a medium build, last seen driving a Blue Buick LeSabre with no tag, and may be in the Homestead area of Dade County.

PHONE SERVICE REPAIRS
March 9, 2001
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department will be servicing the non-essential phone lines on Sunday. March 11, 2001 from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. All non-essential numbers will be down during this time.
This service will not effect 911 phone lines, 911 will be fully operational.
During this time only 911 can be used for non-emergency calls into the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

MOBILE COMMAND VEHICLE
March 13, 2001
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department will be previewing its new Mobile Command Vehicle on Thursday, March 15, 2001, from noon to 2:00 p.m. on the east side of Fort Lauderdale City Hall, 100 North Andrews Avenue.
This Mobile Command Vehicle is a state of the art, 37-foot command operations vehicle designed to provide a self-contained, self-supporting, all weather platform to allow personnel to operate within an effective on-scene incident management facility.
The mobile command center has both hard wire and cell phone capability, off and on-line computer capability, mast camera, self-contained power, galley and restroom facilities, exterior video camera, interior TV monitors (2), and separate communication center, work station and conference rooms.
The cost of the Mobile Command Vehicle was $294,000.00, but with the use of Law Enforcement Trust Fund, and Law Enforcement Block Fund grant money the actual cost to the City of Fort Lauderdale was $3,300.00

HOMICIDE SKETCH
March 19, 2000
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is releasing a composite sketch of the suspect in the homicide case of Konstantinos “Gus” Boulis. Boulis was shot and killed on Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at approximately 9:15 p.m. as he drove in the 2000 block of S. Miami Road.
The suspect is described as a white male, possibly Latin, 30’s, short dark hair, moustache, with a medium build.
The vehicle that the suspect was driving is still being described as a dark colored, possibly black, 90’s Ford Mustang with a paper license tag. The vehicle has not been recovered.
The composite sketch of the suspect may be viewed on the Fort Lauderdale Police web-site at www.flpd.org, or copies are available in the lobby of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department at 1300 West Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale.

ESCAPEE ARRESTED
March 21, 2001
Fort Lauderdale Police Department Fugitive Task Force Detective Chuck Morrow has arrested a subject wanted for escape since July 4, 2000. Shannon Moeller, 08-19-77, escaped from the El Dorado Correctional Facility located in Toronto, Kansas where he was serving time on two counts of Aggravated Robbery and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Robbery.
In December of 2000 information was received that Moeller was in the Fort Lauderdale area along with his girlfriend who had aided Moeller in his escape.
On March 19, 2001 Detective Morrow located the vehicle that the girlfriend was last seen driving and along with members of the FBI Fugitive Task Force conducted surveillance on the vehicle. After nineteen hours of surveillance the girlfriend drove to a location in Sunrise, and with the assistance of the Sunrise Police Department Moeller was taken into custody without incident.

HOMICIDE ARREST
March 23, 2001
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department has charged David Fiddemon, 04-03-58, with one count of Murder in connection with the homicide of Marvella Johnson. Johnson was found stabbed to death on February 19, 2001 in an apartment located at 518 NW 8 Avenue.
Fiddemon was arrested after Detectives learned that the victim and the arrested had a physically violent boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, and were then able to collect clothing from the arrested which showed human blood stains on it. Fiddemon stated that the blood was his from an injury sustained to his hand at work, however after DNA testing the blood was found to be that of Marvella Johnson. The injury to Fiddemon’s hand was sustained while stabbing the victim to death.
Fiddemon was currently in custody on an unrelated warrant.

ARREST IN HOMICIDE CASE
March 26, 2001
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with the homicide of Michael Sortal, Geoffrey Kennedy, 11-27-74, has been charged with one count of First Degree Murder.
Sortal was found dead in an apartment located within the Sunrise Self-Storage, 601 NE 11 Street on March 15, 2001, at approximately 11:00 a.m.; Sortal was the manager of the property. Detectives learned through interviews of the victim’s friends that the victim had recently meet two young men at a local gay bar a little over a week before his death.
Detectives began to look for any similar robbery or assault cases involving two young males, and in fact found a home invasion/ assault that occurred three days earlier. In this case the victim, who was also gay, was beaten badly but survived by in the victim’s words “playing dead”. The suspects in this case were two young males that matched the description of the suspects described to detectives in the Sortal case. The home invasion victim was able to remember an address, 744 NE 14 Avenue, that one of the suspects had mentioned possibly to call for a cab ride. In the crime scene at 601 NE 11 Street there was a piece of paper found with a hand written note having the same address, 744 NE 14 Avenue.
Detectives concentrated on that address and found that there were two males Geoffrey Kennedy and Kevin Hoffman living there that matched the description of the suspects in both cases. Kennedy was picked up on an unrelated arrest warrant on March 22, 2001, and while he was in custody the victim positively identified both Kennedy and Hoffman as his attackers. Hoffman was picked up the following day.
While in custody and being questioned, Kennedy confessed to being involved in the Sortal homicide along with Hoffman. Hoffman has not been charged in the Sortal homicide at this time pending the outcome of Forensic Evidence collected at the homicide scene.
