MISSING JUVENILE
The Fort Lauderdale Police Dept. is attempting to locate a missing juvenile. Akalia Boyce-Clarke has been missing since November 24, 1999, when she was last seen at Stanahan High School, where she is a student. There does not appear to be any foul play involved in the disappearance, however Akalia has not been seen or heard from, and her family is concerned for her safety. Akalia is described as a black female, 15 years of age, 5'7", and 155 lbs., with long black hair.

SEARCH WARRANT ARRESTS
January 5, 2000
The Fort Lauderdale Police Dept. Special Investigations Division along with assistance from the F.B.I., Sunrise Police Department, and the Lauderhill Police Department conducted two search warrants Monday, January 3, 2000, in both the City of Fort Lauderdale, and the City of Sunrise.
The search warrants were the product of an extensive, on-going investigation, and were served shortly before noon, at 1604 NW 11 Court, Fort Lauderdale, and 5802 NW 12 Street in Sunrise. The results of the warrants were six arrests, and the seizure of 133 grams of Marijuana, 13.8 kilos of Cocaine, and $24,000.00 in cash. Additionally 3 vehicles were confiscated.
Arrested were Donald Roberson, 08-21-66; Joseph Samules, 11-09-71; Frantz Lavance, 12-22-74; and Enoch Williams, 09-28-69. All four were charged with multiple counts of Intent to Deliver Cannabis/Cocaine. Roberson, Samules, and Lavance will also face Federal prosecution.
Yanett Williams, 11-08-76 and Willie Hamilton, 10-24-69, were arrested for active warrants Investigators feel the drugs seized were destine to be produced into "crack" cocaine to be distributed on the streets of Broward County.

FUGITIVE ARREST
Fort Lauderdale Police Dept. Fugitive Detective Chuck Morrow has arrested a Fugitive wanted in connection with a sexual assault that occurred in 1994. James Tracey, 08-01-70, committed a sexual battery of a six year old girl in December 1994 in upstate New York, and was last seen in 1995. Tracey had been on the run since that time.
New York Fugitive Detectives contacted detective Morrow, and through investigation and surveillance, Tracey was located and taken into custody last night without incident at the Hi-Lo Motel, 32 SE 2 Ave., Dania.
Tracey was booked into the Fort Lauderdale Jail and charged with the following warrants out of New York State: Sexual Abuse 1st Degree, Felony Sexual Abuse, Fail to register (sex offender) and Sexual Assault- Sodomy.
Tracey will be held awaiting extradition to New York.

CAR-JACKING ARREST
January 19, 2000
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department has arrested Troy Jackson, 07-21-80, and charged him with one count of Car-Jacking.
Jackson had committed a car-jacking using an AK-47 assault rifle on December 15, 1999 at approximately 8:40 a.m. Jackson fled on foot into an apartment at 534 NW 22 Ave that led to a 4 ½ SWAT standoff. SWAT moved in and searched the property for Jackson, but Jackson had fled.
This morning, January 19, 2000, at approximately 4:00 a.m. Jackson was taken into custody without incident at 1106 NW 14 Court by Detective Chuck Morrow of the Fugitive Squad along with assistance from the K-9 Unit and Patrol Officers.

PRESS CONFERENCE
January 21, 2000
The Fort Lauderdale Police Dept., the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the US Attorneys Office will be holding a press conference today, January 21, 1999, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, 1300 West Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale.
The Press conference will be the culmination of a lengthy, co-operative investigation by the Fort Lauderdale Police Dept.'s Special Investigations Division, DEA Mobile Enforcement Team (MET) Miami, and the US Attorneys Office. The investigation has resulted in the arrest of numerous career criminal drug dealers, and the seizure of narcotics, cash, and weapons.

HOMICIDE ARREST
January 26, 2000The Fort Lauderdale Police Dept. has arrested and charged Larry D.Sutton, 02-29-72, with one count of First-Degree Murder in connection with the murder of Tim Deraat.
At approximately 7:53 am on Friday, August 21, 1998, the Fort Lauderdale Police Dept. responded with the Fire Department to the Flamingo Resort, 2727 Terra Mar Street in reference to a fire. Upon arrival, the body of 51 year-old Tim Deraat, the owner of the resort, was found inside. Deraat had died from multiple stab wounds.
Recently, information was received by detectives that the culprit in the crime was Larry D. Sutton, and that Sutton was staying in the Washington D.C. area. Detectives Mike Dew and Al Stone flew to Washington on Monday and spoke with a subject who provided information on the case and Sutton. Detectives also learned that Sutton had left the D.C. area and was headed to DeSoto, Missouri. A warrant was obtained through Broward County for the arrest of Sutton. On Tuesday, January 25, 2000, the vehicle that Sutton was reported as driving was located at the home of family members that Sutton was visiting. At approximately 3:30 p.m. the Jefferson County Missouri Sheriffs Department S.W.A.T. Team took Sutton into custody without incident.
Fort Lauderdale Police Detective Mike Walley has flown to Missouri to interview Sutton. Sutton will be extradited back to Broward County as soon as possible.

BURGLARY
January 28, 2000
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is investigating a burglary at U. S. Toner, 6500 NW 21 Ave.
Sometime between the hours of 10:30 P.M., Thursday and 7:30 A.M. Friday the business was burglarized. More than $250,000 of supplies and equipment was taken. The burglars broke into the utility room where they disabled the alarm before cutting locks to gain entry into the building. Once inside they took two pallets of OEM toner and printer supplies valued at $15,000 each, 2 Dell computer workstations at least two Dell lap top computers other supplies and equipment used in the copier and computer printer business as well as computers and other office equipment. Employees are still inventorying the business to determine the exact loss and value.
According to Frank Gernet, a partner in the business, the perpetrators needed a large truck to remove the property.
Investigators are processing the scene in order to find any clue as to the perpetrators identities. Detective Ben Langley says there were no witnesses and few leads at this time. A crow bar used to gain entry was found at the scene.
The business is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the burglars.
