Important Fingerprint Hit
July 1, 2002
Thanks to fingerprint comparisons by the Fingerprint Unit's Carl Ciotola, 40 yr. old EUGENE COOPER, who was arrested on June 12 on an in-progress burglary in District 2, has additonally been identified as culprit in three other residential burglaries and was charged accordingly. He appears to be the one who had been plaguing District 2 with the front door forced entries of homes.
This past Friday, June 28, Detectives Herbert and Chris Smith, alerted by an informant, and with the help of patrol, located burglary suspect, 28 yr. old Charles McFadden near W. Sunrise/24 Ave. He had been identified as the culprit in a residential burglary in Lauderdale Manors earlier in the month. During interview he implicated himself in a business burglary at 700 blok NW 9 Ave.
Detectives Littlefield and Donisi were notified that Wilton Manors had arrested 21 yr old CORIE BEASLEY during a burglary in that city. Donisi then began a pawn history check of Beasley's name and found that he had a lengthy pattern of pawning.
Through crime analysis, dates of Beasley's pawns and the items he pawned were compared with burglaries having occurred in our city on those dates. Two matches of property taken and then pawned were found, based only on description as no serial numbers were available.
On Friday, Beasley was additionally charged with Dealing in Stolen Property regarding the one burglary in our city, and on July 2, 2002, additional documentation will be submitted, charging him with a second charge of Dealing in Stolen Property, based on our other burglary. Beasley resides in NW Fort Lauderdale, but the burglaries occurred in SW portion of city (Davie/31 Ave). There will be more prints to be submitted for comparison to determine if he can be identified in any other burglaries in that area.

They have been charged with three felonies and numerous firearms were seized. Your efforts have made our streets much safer.

Street Narc Unit Members (Red & Blue)I appreciate the combined efforts of all of you last week in the apprehension of three suspects, Michael Smith, Jean Anderson and Gordon Sevile, all tied to both street narcotics dealing and firearms charges. I believe it will become even more evident in coming weeks that these subjects are heavily connected to street robberies. They definitely needed to be taken off the streets.
Your fine teamwork has accomplished a great deal and will make a real difference.
Thank you,
Al Ortenzo

Detective Chuck Morrow,
Nice job nabbing the bank robber downtown last week. Looks like Roger Stottlemyer is good for al least three bank robberies initially suspected and perhaps more.
Your diligence in monitoring and responding to the radio call of the bank robbery and leadership in establishing the perimeter helped to put this guy away.
Thank you,
Al Ortenzo
Assistant Chief
