A newly established and recently implemented retirement plan, in combination with two Federal grants, have served to create several current and future vacancies for the position of Police Officer with the City of Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

An extraordinary recruiting effort is underway to attract as many qualified applicants as possible to meet future staffing requirements. Certified and Non-Certified, out of area and local Police applicants may apply. All must meet certain testing standards and qualifications to be considered for employment.

Starting salary for this position is currently $32,801.60, and could be significantly more, contingent upon certification and experience. Top pay is $52, 686.40. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department enjoys liberal fringe benefits, including but not limited to, three pension options, medical and dental insurance, excellent vacation and sick leave allowances, tuition reimbursement, and outstanding promotional opportunities.
