Each year the State of Florida receives an allocation of funds from the United States Department of Justice under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (Byrne/JAG) Program. The State then passes these funds through to units of local government. The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) has historically managed Byrne/JAG local grant allocations for all cities in Broward County.

The City of Fort Lauderdale Police Department will be receiving $99,716 in funding under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program – FY 2013 Local Solicitation. These funds can be used for a number of law enforcement purposes. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department proposes to use FY 2013 Byrne/JAG funds to assist in the refurbishment of our Mobile Command Vehicle. The proposed distribution of these funds is listed below.
